Merrist Wood College was awarded a zoo licence in June 2018, allowing it to share its collection of exotic animals, some of which are of conservation importance, with the wider community.
The College’s Animal Management Centre includes arid and tropical biomes and a nocturnal room, which houses a wide variety of species. The Centre provides a state-of-the-art learning environment for students, which enables animals to be studied and cared for in a more natural environment. Animal Encounter activities include Junior Keeper Experiences, Public Tours, Education Tours, Children’s Parties and Animal Experiences.
