State-of-the-art workspaces and facilities

400-acre estate with woodlands, wetlands, livestock, gardens and grasslands. There are outstanding facilities for floristry, horticulture, landscaping and garden design. These include a campus nursery, workshops and design studios.  

  • The Animal Management Centre has specialist areas for large, small and exotic animals. These include snakes, spiders, sheep, cows, ferrets, rabbits, birds of prey and many more! 
  • Sport: Football and rugby pitches, access to an 18-hole championship golf course and golf practice facilities. We have just launched our brand-new strength and conditioning suite 
  • Equine: We have one of the largest indoor riding arenas compared to other colleges in the country and one of the top centres in the south east. We were also a pre-Olympic training venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games. We have three outdoor schools, two full accredited cross-country courses, stabling for over 70 horses and a range of livery options. 
  • We have machinery such as tractors, quad bikes, mowers, chippers and more! 
  • Our Horticulture learners have access to glasshouses and work with extensive ranges of plant and tree species 
  • Landscape students have access to garden sites, poly tunnels and paving areas 
  • Floristry students benefit from specially designed studios and access to a wide range of flowers and plants 
  • A friendly and well-stocked Learning Environment, where you can access reference and textbooks, PCs and online study resources

Our staff are extremely experienced and professional. Many have come from the relevant industries that they teach in, which allows them to pass on many years of experience and knowledge to students. 

Supported Learning Centre 

The Woodlands Centre at Merrist Wood College will provide a safe and secure learning environment for up to 64 students with severe and complex learning, social and communication difficulties and challenging behaviour that may also have a physical disability. The Centre will also cater for students who have epilepsy. 

Accommodation 

If you don't live in Guildford or the surrounding areas but want to study at Merrist Wood College or Guildford College, we can help you to arrange accommodation. With just over 100 residents on our picturesque country campus, Merrist Wood provides a supportive community for students living away from home. At the last Ofsted inspection, Merrist Wood College's residential provision was rated as "outstanding in all five areas inspected. Find out more here.
