The esteemed membership accreditation honours local organisations of exceptional quality that embody and uphold the unique character of the Surrey Hills area, sharing a commitment to supporting the local environment.

As a Community Interest Company, funds generated from its work goes back to support the work of enhancing Surrey Hills, its landscape and local communities.

The Trade Mark champions excellence and sustainability within the Surrey Hills and recognises businesses and organisations that make significant contributions to the local community, maintain high standards, and are dedicated to preserving the region’s distinct natural beauty. 

This accolade highlights Merrist Wood College and University Centre’s dedication to sustainability, quality and local provenance. As a recognised institution, the college continues to play a vital role in promoting the values that makes Surrey Hills a unique and cherished landscape.

The Surrey Hills was one of the first landscapes in the country to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1958. Stretching across rural Surrey, this magical National Landscape covers a quarter of the county.

National Landscapes are on par with the UK’s National Parks, each National Landscape is an outstanding landscape whose distinctive character and natural beauty is so precious that it is safeguarded in the national interest. National Landscapes are designated to conserve and enhance an area of outstanding natural beauty for people and nature.
