At just 21, Judith Wylde is already making impressive strides in the world of horticulture.
After completing a degree in an unrelated field, Judith decided to pursue her true passion—plants—by enrolling on both the RHS Level 2 Practical and Theory qualifications at Merrist Wood College.
Despite having limited practical experience when she started, Judith has shown exceptional growth in both skills and confidence. She attends college two days a week and has successfully passed all her assessments so far, with final exam results pending.
Judith’s dedication has also led to exciting opportunities beyond the classroom.
She’s currently undertaking a year-long placement in the prestigious glasshouses at RHS Garden Wisley and holds a part-time role at a specialist houseplant retailer in Guildford.
Balancing study, work, and overcoming personal challenges, Judith is a shining example of resilience and drive. Her story showcases the value of adult learning and how the right course—and support—can unlock new passions and career paths.
Judith’s journey highlights the power of reconnecting with education at any stage of life, and we’re proud to have her as part of the Merrist Wood community.
