T-levels are new courses that follow GCSEs and are equivalent to three A Levels. Developed in collaboration with employers, they prepare students for work and higher education by aligning content with industry needs. The T Level in Animal Management offers a unique chance to gain real-world experience through industry placements, providing essential skills and knowledge for careers in animal care and management or pursuing higher education.
This T-level is a two-year programme that combines classroom instruction and significant work placements with employers to give you practical experience in your chosen field.
What you'll learn
Over two years, you will undertake classroom-based learning, developing an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to employability, such as sustainability, ethical principles, communication, business and health and safety. You’ll also complete core animal care topics, including some practical work with the range of species in our Animal Management Centre. Topics include: health and safety, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, biological cells and tissues.
You will also complete a minimum of 45-day industry placement to further develop your practical skills and animal care knowledge. With this blend of technical study program and industry experience, the T Level in Animal Management and Science is the first step for students toward rewarding careers in the animal science sector.
Progression
Learners will be in a strong position to progress to higher education and study at degree level, complete a higher apprenticeship or move seamlessly into employment opportunities.
Examples of HE courses include: Animal Science, Zoology, Veterinary Nursing at FdSc or BSc level, or an Apprenticeship in Veterinary Nursing.
This course provides UCAS tariff points towards entry to university.
Entry requirements
You should have 5 GCSEs at 4 or above, including maths, English Language and Science.
Applicants will benefit from having some animal care experience, but this is not essential.
