This course prepares you for future employment in places such as leisure centres, fitness studios and retail sports outlets or for progression to our Sport Level 3 National Extended Diploma.
This course provides you with a high quality, industry-recognised qualification that is also recognised on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). It is suitable for those who wish to enter the exercise and fitness industry as a gym instructor and want to work towards becoming a Personal Trainer.
What you'll learn
You will learn a range of units that cover:
- how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
- health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
- principles of exercise, fitness and health
- anatomy and physiology for exercise
On successful completion of this course, you will gain a nationally recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructors qualification. You will be able to assess clients, devise a personalised training programme and deliver a training session confidently.
How you'll learn and be assessed
The course involves a mixture of theoretical and practically based work.
Assessment is through a mixture of practical assessments, portfolio evidence and short answer examinations.
Entry requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, including English language and maths, or achievement on a Level 1 Foundation Pathway, including Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1.
Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment.
All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
